What does the Bible say about body piercing and tattoos?

What does the Bible say about sex before marriage?all Heading

Several texts in the Bible

forbid the cutting of or the

marking of the human body.

You can look up these

passages

and study them: Leviticus

19:28; Leviticus 21:5;

Deuteronomy 14:1.

The pagans who did

not believe that God had created them consequently had no respect for the human body. The prophets of Baal speared themselves with lances on Mt. Carmel in order to please their god. The demoniac deliberately gouged and lacerated his flesh with stones. These false religions, conjured up by Satan, wish to dishonor God’s image in man by doing what is foreign to it. And virtually every pagan religion of the world has some form of self-mutilation. These admonitions apply to tattoos and body piercing, which harm the human body (inducing the immune system to fight what is dangerous, harmful, and unnatural) in a bizarre twist of human pride and adornment. Therefore, Christians should have an entirely different perspective: “Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corinthians 6:19, 20).

Sex is intrinsically tied to

marriage in the Old and

New Testaments. Sex

outside of or before

marriage is called

fornication, and it is sin.

The Bible says, “Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire” (Jude 1:7). “For this is the will of God, [even] your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication” (1 Thessalonians 4:3). “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience” (Colossians 3:5, 6).

What does the Bible say about gambling? Is gambling a sin?

A Christian is a follower of Jesus. God became a man to give us an everyday example.

If you can picture Jesus in Vegas, yanking on a one-armed bandit, then it might be okay.

But most Christians would have trouble conjuring up that picture. Also, the atmosphere in

gambling establishments is not very godly. Drinks are flowing, people aren’t thinking about

God; instead, they’re thinking about worshipping money. Solomon says in Proverbs 23:4,

"Do not overwork or do not strive to be rich." Of course, the reason people gamble is

because they want to get rich quick. “A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but

he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent. … He that hasteth to be rich

[hath] an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him” (Proverbs 28:20, 22). The idea of gaining wealth without working is a curse. Many who have won lotteries and large sums of money have later regretted it; their lives were wrecked! The Bible says "The love of money is the root of all evil" (1 Timothy 6:10). Money is not evil, but the love of it. Gambling involves taking advantage of the ignorance of others and it wastes time that could be devoted to productivity. Now if gambling in general is bad, then small degrees of gambling could also be a bad witness to others — so we ought to avoid the lottery and sports betting as well.

God Loves Me

God Loves Me The Bible tells us,

“God is Love!” (1 John 4:8). The

Lord is our Creator and cares a great

deal about us. “See how much the

Father has loved us? His love is so

great that we are called God’s children” (1 John 3:1 TEV). God wants you to have a happy life. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). Perhaps you’ve had moments in your life when you wondered, “Is this all there is?” Maybe you’ve felt there was something missing and felt a longing to understand the purpose of life—your life! Some people feel emptiness in their heart that nothing seems to fill. Others wonder, “Where did I come from?” or “Why is there so much hatred and evil in the world?” The Bible tells us there is a loving and compassionate God who created our world in order to have a meaningful and joyful relationship with us. Our planet was originally created perfectly. There was no death or pain; no tears were shed over broken relationships. Everything functioned harmoniously.
